Steel Build Masters (SBM) offer a complete range of Timber Cladding Options to enhance and personalise your building.

Timber cladding can be applied direct to frame with a breathable membrane or can be applied direct to composite insulated walls for aesthetics, utilising the thermal and acoustic properties and clean finished interior of the composite panels. Timber cladding can be used to envelope the entire building or can be used as a design feature on specific walls or part of a wall.

WESTERN RED CEDAR

This softwood is a highly fashionable timber species for external cladding. It is considered a very durable and sturdy timber with very little movement. Western Red Cedar has a very beautiful colour and finish, making it very popular. It is more expensive than other species but can last up to 60 years.

BRITISH RED CEDAR

Sourced from locations throughout the UK and Europe, British Oak boards are provided untreated allowing you to apply your own protection or can be left untreated to allow them to weather naturally to the traditional silver look over a couple of years. Green Oak ranges in colour from pink to pale honey deepening to a golden yellow.

BRITISH & SIBERIAN LARCH

Larch is a very popular timber for cladding. It is very secure and reliable which makes it ideal for building and exterior design. Larch does not require regular treatment. This is a characteristic of hardwood and explains why it is so popular for cladding along with its cost-effective price. Larch is especially suited to a rustic look and feel.

BRITISH DOUGLAS FIR

Douglas Fir is one of the strongest homegrown softwoods and extremely durable. The density and resin content often make it difficult to treat at first, but a range of oils can be applied once it has dried out. Douglas Fir is a light reddish brown when dry and pink when freshy sawn with a strong contrast between early and late stage growth.

GREEN TREATED SOFTWOOD

High Pressure Treated with Green Tanalith E wood preservative (or similar) to protect against fungal decay and insect attack. All standard softwoods are responsibly sourced. Slow grown for durability and strength. Wood naturally expands and contracts with moisture content. Naturally light in colour weathering to a silver over time.
